The F-22 demonstrates air superiority with the most agile and radar stealth fighter jet ever produced. Look at that amazing rapid vertical ascent. The F-22 owes a lot to British jet engineering and BAE Systems here in UK (a company I worked for in-directly) and the British Harrier Jump-Jet with its one of a kind adjustable thrust allowing vertical take-offs like a helicopter. The USAF acquired nearly ALL of Britain's ageing Harrier fleet (and a load of parts!) and studied it closely and then perfected the Harrier's adjustable thrust in the F-22 to make a truly remarkable 21st century version. I was surprised that the USAF and USMC still flies the British Harriers in their fleet even though its quite an old fighter jet by today's standards. They have updated them and retrofitted with modern cockpit tech and modern weaponry. A smart move by the US military as they acquired around 100 of them from UK gov very very cheap. The Harrier is a highly agile short-distance fighter jet capable but capable of mid-air refuelling and is ideal for cramming on US aircraft carriers alongside more long-range fighter jets. The Harriers proved their strategic edge in the Falkland's Conflict when Britain used them against Argentina to regain the Falkland Islands. A fighter jet with vertical lift and landing that can pop-up out of nowhere is a terrifying prospect for any enemy and it was for the Argentinian forces on the Falklands and their air force. The US updated Harriers are named AV-8B+ Harrier and used by the US Marine Corps.

These two engineers need to loosen up a bit..they look like robots. Got to admire them though for standing perfectly still so close to an F22 with engines on roaring and yet hardly flinching at all! That definitely must be hard imagine the heat and vibration in your body. I live near an RAF base in my County in UK and we occasionally get modern fighter jets fly over like the F-35B, and even at fairly high altitude (maybe 2,000+ feet) the noise and power of these planes can be felt in your body vibrating. Having these fly over a country in combat must put the fear of God into people on the ground. I cannot imagine how bad it must be standing a few feet away from one with engines blasting! All credit to the USAF guys.

An impressive, yet redundant skill. The high risk involved in this type of flying is unnecessarily bordering on recklessness. As we speak, we´re crossing a technology threshold and in the near future, autonomous AI augmented flying with `swarm-logic` will be standart. Pilots will be systems oversight controller, period. (Also, flying (in air) will be replaced by `moving` through space-time with electro-gravitic field engines)

We have a condo on the beach near NAS Pensacola. Every once in a while, we will be sitting on the balcony and the Blue Angels will appear our of nowhere. They are so loud and so awe inspiring. I never get tired of it.
